Synopois orginally from TVONE's Web site: What she least expected Trauma registrar Nicky Somerville has a very bad night. She gets punched by a patient she is trying to save, then realises her boyfriend is having an affair. What's worse is her boyfriend is also her boss. A fresh start takes her to the small town of Bassett - only to find that she may be without a job. Her appointment hasn't been ratified by her new boss, Dr William Kingsley - but Nicky is adamant that she can't go back to town. Nicky makes waves by deciding to admit the victim of a car accident. When the resuscitation isn't straightforward, she discovers that the patient, Amanda Masefield is on anti-depressants. Her actions with Amanda only serve to make her more unpopular with William, who makes it clear she's not wanted. However, the administrator Louise seems desperate for her to stay. These reactions make her feel that something is rotten in the state of Bassett and with Dr Kingsley in particular. Nicky takes a depressed trip to the supermarket, where the manager seems determined to bare her breasts. She appears to have an ally in a fellow doctor, Alistair, but when she shares her concerns about William, he reveals that he is the good doctor's son. Then Nicky sees her new home. It's the place of her dreams and it makes her all the more determined to fight to stay. She gets more information on Amanda and confronts William. To her surprise, William counters her arguments and turns the tables. He has the dirt on why Nicky felt she had to leave town - embarrassing revenge on her former boss. Nicky feels beaten, but more women seem to want to bare their breasts. Louise points out this is unsurprising, since Nicky is Bassett's first female doctor. And while she's here... Nicky also finds that there is another take on the reason for Amanda's accident and that her husband Kieran might have had reason to want her dead. Louise turns out to have a breast lump that warrants further investigation. And it also turns out that Louise and William are having an affair. Nicky finds that William has reconsidered his decision. She has a job in Bassett if she wants it. |
